The Hinxton Group, which started in 2006, is an evolving consortium of international scientists, clinicians, lawyers, ethicists, journal editors, policy makers and other experts who are interested in fostering scientifically and ethically defensible stem cell research. The group has contributed significantly to the discussion, debate and policy formation in the area of stem cell research through its own research, analysis and recommendations. In this paper, we discuss the history and development of the Hinxton Group, along with the past and future work of the group.
